As a Senior M & E Engineer at Equinix, you will support the facility teams by providing technical knowledge across HV & LV systems, data hall cooling, controls and safe systems of work. This will be a challenging yet rewarding role as it will give you a chance to become a specialist in Data Centre Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure, working in an experienced team and with design engineers, technical facilities teams, operations engineers and other internal staff on the design, specification, installation, testing and maintenance of new and existing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support
    • Provides the team with technical support and advice
    • Acts as SME and provides training to team members as necessary
    • HV Authorisations - assist/prepare potential APs
    • Prepare Critical Switching plans
    • Monitor potential phase build overload scenarios
    • Monitor infrastructure load redundancy/resilience
    • Manage Phase build impact on existing DC infrastructure
    • Witness ISTs and testing on new infrastructure
    • Assist in the development and training of Technicians
    • Attends vendor Factory and Site Acceptance tests reporting any issues
    • Attend design meetings for new and enhancement projects
  • Reporting
    • Reviews specialist contractual reports and activities
  • Site Maintenance
    • Ensure preventative maintenance is performed in accordance with company standards and procedures
    • Assess Adherence to Policy
    • Ensure all repairs performed on all IBX infrastructure are according to the manufacturer's guidelines and best practices
  • Problem Solving
    • Aids in root cause analysis and in repair of failed components
    • Investigate and establish RCAs after major incidents
  • Collaboration
    • Liaises with regional construction or design teams on design changes
    • Advise Project Managers and Facilities on critical infrastructure works
  • Design
    • Validates design criteria for new principal power installations (e.g. single power source)

Experience and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in mission critical environment in HV Engineering
  • Strong HV and LV switching and controls
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Operational experience - hands on experience in M&E Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering preferred
