Due to growth in our services, RPS is looking for Town Planners across all grades to join our Planning & Environment team. We are looking for candidates at Assistant Planner, Associate Planner, Senior Associate Planner and Technical Director levels. The roles can be based at our Belfast, Glasgow, or Edinburgh offices. Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services, the roles will provide an opportunity to work on varied projects, primarily across housing developments, renewables, road schemes and infrastructure projects. You will be provided with rich experience in town planning across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Our Northern Ireland & Scotland Division, situated in Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh, employs over 300 staff and has been providing services to the UK and ROI for the past 70 years. As one of the UK and Ireland's leading multidisciplinary consultancies, we are working on many high-profile Planning, Engineering, Renewable, Water, Waste, Transport, Project Management and Environment projects and require innovative and motivated staff.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting Planning Directors in successfully delivering their planning caseload
- Directly engaging in our business development initiatives
- Actively supporting our Senior Planners, Planners, Assistant Planners and Graduates
- Taking a lead role, preparing bid proposals, supporting colleagues with tender submissions and helping them to deliver and manage projects
- Assisting in public consultations with preparatory materials and representing RPS at public events in support of client proposals
- Attending and monitoring committee and other hearings
Who we're looking for:
- Substantive planning experience in the renewables sector (wind, solar, BESS etc) or commercial sector.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a corporate environment
- A passion for planning, development and environmental issues
- A good working knowledge of planning policy
- A keen eye on emerging planning policy
- A strategic thinker and someone who can readily problem solve
- A market awareness and a good understanding of local planning issues
- Full UK driving license and access to a form of transport
