Daily Rate: Up to £600pd DOE (Inside IR35)

About the role

Onshore Delivery Engineering within the Central Technical Organisation (CTO) is responsible for performing the engineering design aspects of all Onshore Wind projects throughout Great Britain and Ireland; commencing at prospection, projects are to be technically specified and delivered through development, consenting, securing finance and construction ensuring Engineering Excellence prior to handover into Asset Operations.

You will be the Delivery Engineer on a number of our clients Onshore Wind Projects, responsible for establishing and co-ordinating multi-discipline project engineering teams and executing engineering design works. You will play a lead role in the successful delivery of the projects, ensuring the design complies with the requirements, whilst ensuring appropriate engineering and quality standards and specifications are maintained.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage multi-discipline Project Engineering Teams for Onshore Wind Growth Projects to ensure delivery of these on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
  • Act as the engineering lead (Owners Engineer) and design co-ordinator for assigned across the Multiple Delivery Contracts - Turbine Supply and Installation Agreement (TSIA), Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) and Civil Balance of Plant (CBoP).
  • Fulfil duties of Principal Designer (PD) on UK projects and Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) in Ireland.
  • Coordinate technical and commercial due diligence, site visits, factory and site acceptance tests and support commissioning as required.
  • Provide focus on all matters related to the engineering specification and design activities, ensuring that deliverables are clearly identified and aligned.
  • Manage the engineering design activities from front-end engineering design (FEED) through to detailed design supporting the Project Managers to ensure delivery satisfies the requirements of the project.
  • Ownership of the Project Design Management Plan to ensure a consistent approach to Engineering design such that safety, quality and programme is measured and balanced to deliver optimised project outcomes.
  • Lead the planning and prioritisation of suitably qualified and experienced resource, including the management and supervision of any required internal or external third parties (consultants, sub-contractors, etc).
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure risk level is as low a reasonably practicable (ALARP).

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • You'll have experience in leading engineering teams in the development, design and construction of power generation projects, ideally Onshore Wind within Great Britain and Ireland.
  • You'll have an understanding of developing and delivering Onshore Wind Projects from feasibility to detailed engineering design to construction to project handover.
  • You'll have working knowledge of relevant Engineering industry standards and design, construction, installation and testing codes of practice and regulations.
  • You will have working knowledge of Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 (IRE) and the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and/or Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations (UK) and the role of Principal Designer.
  • You'll have as minimum a relevant Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • It would be advantageous for you to have experience in Project Management.
  • A professional qualification in Engineering (IMechE, IET, ICE etc.) and/or Project Management (PMI, APM etc) would also be preferable.
  • You would possess a full clean driving license with the ability to work away from base location (site) as and when required.
