Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the overall supply chain strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and promoting operational excellence.
  • Lead, manage and develop the team through the whole employee life cycle.
  • Oversee high-level negotiations and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers to secure favourable agreements and ensure service quality.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to understand organisational needs and drive supply chain efficiency.
  • Ensure the supply chain function adheres to legal, regulatory, and internal policies while proactively managing risks.
  • Set KPIs and monitor the performance of the supply chain function, providing regular updates to senior stakeholders and driving continuous improvement.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for innovation and process improvement, leveraging data insights to enhance supply chain operations.
  • Manage and optimise the supply chain budget, ensuring cost efficiency and value delivery across all procurement activities.

Role – Specific knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Experience in leading complex Supply Chain functions for a geographically dispersed organisation.
  • Designing and implementing strategic supply chain solutions which deliver value for money to an organisation.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, including use of frameworks (e.g. Crown Commercial) and contract negotiation.
  • Proven experience of embedding new ways of working across multiple areas within an organisation.
  • Experience of working as an internal service provider to operational functions.
  • Appropriate qualification e.g. Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or Full MCIPS status.
  • Experience of managing a budget to drive cost efficiencies and value.
  • Experience of stakeholder management and engagement.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with charity sector or public procurement regulations.
  • Experience in warehousing and distribution.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
