Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2025 and beyond, they are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Officer to complement their professional team.
Reporting to the Quality Manager and based near Coleshill, the successful Environmental Officer will be responsible for cultivating a high-performance culture with a strong focus on Environmental management systems, supporting the business by applying in-depth Environmental and Sustainability knowledge and offering strategic solutions and advice. The role involves employing a variety of tools and methodologies to monitor, analyse and improve the quality of processes and products, often working cross-functionally to install a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the business has an effective environmental management system that addresses Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing practices within the operation.
- Implementing policies and standards and undertaking process and system audits and site visits as required.
- Maintaining the company's BS:EN:ISO-9001 quality management system (QMS), BS:EN:ISO14001 environmental management system (EMS) and BS:OHSAS45001 occupational health, safety management system (OHSMS).
- Carrying out induction training for all new starters to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Overseeing the implementation, monitoring and maintaining of the company recycling schemes.
- Compiling data required for management reviews and implementing agreed actions focusing on continuous improvement of the QMS/EMS and OHSMS.
- Inspecting and generating QHSE Management reports as required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging opportunity, you will realistically demonstrate at least 3 years' experience of working in a manufacturing quality environment with exhaustive knowledge of ISO 9001, 45001 and QMS systems. Ideally, you will be qualified to degree level or above and hold professional membership of a professional body related to Safety and Environment. A good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is essential, with previous experience of working with copper or aluminium metals proving distinctly advantageous.
