We are seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse range of vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. This role is essential in ensuring our fleet operates efficiently and safely, contributing to overall customer satisfaction.
Due to the location of this role, you will be required to drive and have access to a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled maintenance checks and servicing
- Ensure all vehicles meet DVSA standards and relevant documents are completed
- Use diagnostic tools to pinpoint mechanical issues quickly and accurately
- Carry out repairs and install replacement parts in our workshop
- Attend breakdowns and carry out repairs at the roadside
- Prepare vehicles for MOTs
- Manage costs
- Keep records of all work undertaken, updating internal systems with all details
- Proven experience as a mechanic
- Experience with a commercial fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles
- Strong all-round technical experience – maintenance, technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Organise/prioritise workload appropriately
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions independently
- Conscientious with an attention to detail and high-quality standards
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and professional approach
- The role operates on a flexible basis which fits with our operational needs and may include nights and weekend working
- Proficient in equipment repair with a strong understanding of mechanical systems
- Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to solder and assemble components as needed for repairs
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the capability to read and interpret schematics
- Skilled in fabricating parts to meet specific requirements
- Competent in digging for troubleshooting purposes when necessary
- Excellent customer service skills, ensuring positive interactions with clients
