Your mission:
If you consider yourself crafty, skilled, great at fixing things, then we have a job for you. We are looking for an experienced leader that can manage, motivate and inspire a team of engineering aficionados to be the best that they can be in ensuring that everything in the hotel is in good working order. Your role will manage support the Chief Eng in all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Your main priority will be supporting on the ground day to day managing the work force team on both the proactive and reactive preventative maintenance and ensuring we operate at highest standards to achieve guest satisfaction at all times. You will also be expected to setup and fill in for the Chief Eng when they are on annual leave or days off so at times you will be expected to be the emergency response for the hotel.
The Nitty-Gritty:
What exactly you will be doing:
- Managing Property Operations and Engineering Budgets
- Assists in managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.
- Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency and safety.
- Supports the Chief Eng. plan to deliver effective rooms maintenance program.
- Supports the Chief Eng. in ensuring compliance with all engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
- Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
- Supervises the day-to-day operations of Engineering team and supports the Chief Eng strategy in line with the required operational hours of hotel coverage.
Maintaining Property Standards:
- Maintains accurate logs and records as required in line with our pre-determined schedule of training and record keeping in line with the Chief Eng plans.
- Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs created by the Engineering & Rooms Coordinator and the Chief Engineer.
- Attends the required daily/weekly/monthly meetings when the Chief Eng isn't available to ensure continuity of communication across the department.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service:
- Handles guest problems and complaints effectively.
- Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service and leads by example by ensuring the other departments are up to date with resolution of existing tickets on Alice and guest issues.
- Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities:
- Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
- Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and other department leads.
- Ensures employees are treated fairly and equitably.
- Strives to improve service performance.
- Provides feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviours in line with our people standards.
- Supports Chief Eng on supervising employee's ability to execute departmental and property emergency procedures.
- Solicits employee feedback.
- Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
- Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to company policy.
- Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently.
Owns:
- Day to day scheduling, together with Chief Eng, of the maintenance team to ensure adequate cover from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
- PPM schedule with a plan and control in place to deliver a full audit and review of every Hotel bedroom, public areas & BOH spaces six monthly.
- Maintains compliance on all H&S regulations and internal SEAKER daily/weekly/monthly tasks.
- Maintains a reactive and proactive strategy for all tickets raised on internal ALICE system pertinent to engineering department.
What qualities are we looking for?
You got skills? If you are able to perform the following, then you have come to the right place:
- Critical expertise & recent experience: To have supervisory experience with a team of at least 3 other colleagues and demonstrated strength in people management skills.
- Experience in at least two of the following; writing and executing a full preventative maintenance program, responsibility for testing and record keeping for fire, life and safety systems, taking remedial action on the fire and water risk assessments, sourcing and working with contractors on technical services and projects, writing a full security risk assessment and taking remedial action, performing update to technology infrastructure.
- Technical Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of appropriate hotel systems to support operational process (if specialism considered, only require one of) such as service optimisation tool (Alice/Quore/Hotsos/Knowcross) Building Management Systems including but not only, CCTV, Salto, ProcureWizard and HMS Technological requirements and other investments needed for the overall.
- Has in depth knowledge of appropriate brand safety standards and brand standards relating to areas of accountability.
- Delivery of statutory training.
- Background must-have: Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United Kingdom.
- At least 4 years experience in a senior role within facility management or hotel or building engineering.
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests, management/co-workers, both in person and on the telephone.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
