Our client, an independent school in Biggleswade, is looking for a Specialist Teacher (SpLD) to support students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. Proficiency in Makaton is essential.

The school offers state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology that support both online and in-person learning. With a small school atmosphere and a student body of just 110 pupils from Year 3 to Year 13, they provide personalized attention and a nurturing environment where innovation and future-readiness are at the forefront.

The Role Includes:

  • Working closely with students identified by the SENDCo/LSCO
  • Delivering specialist teaching sessions using recognised programmes
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing tailored interventions
  • Supporting class teachers in differentiating lessons for SEND students
  • Liaising with parents and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes

Requirements:

  • Level 5 or 7 qualification in Specialist Teaching (SpLD - Dyslexia focus)
  • Proficiency in Makaton
  • Registered with a professional body (BDA, Dyslexia Guild, PATOSS)
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and the Code of Practice
  • Experience supporting students with EHCPs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies

Salary is dependent on experience; candidates can expect remuneration slightly above the main teacher pay scale.
