SGS Glasgow is the Global Centre for Excellence for Biosafety testing. We are experts in the testing of cell banks and the routine bulk harvests for vaccines, gene and cell therapies, monoclonal antibodies and other recombinant protein-based biological medicines. The site adheres to both Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) providing vaccine and biologics manufacturers with access to high-quality batch-testing of their products. We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our team at SGS Vitrology, Glasgow. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring all Molecular Biology laboratories are in compliance with the relevant cleaning, housekeeping and general procedural Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that laboratory areas are adequately resourced with respect to materials, reagents and consumables.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of laboratory housekeeping including, but not limited to, cleaning (daily, weekly and monthly tasks) and stock control in a timely manner, to a high standard, in accordance with all relevant procedures and SOPs.
  • Prepare and aliquot critical reagents such as primers, probes, HP DNA, HP RNA and poly(A) which are essential to perform client testing.
  • Manage waste for the Molecular Biology Labs, including the use of an autoclave for safe disposal.
  • Record and complete all paperwork accurately.
  • Collaborate with the Team and department Managers, and Clients to ensure all aspects required are met to allow the efficient completion of testing.

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or scientific setting is advantageous.
