Principal Engineer required for my client, a global leader who design and manufacture a range of high value industrial products for a range of sectors including oil & gas, power and petrochemical. As Principal Engineer you would lead and work as part of the engineering team to provide technical leadership to the business regarding bespoke projects. The role is hybrid based and would require 2 days a week office working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical expert on design, sizing and selection.
  • Provide technical guidance to sales, including torque calculation sign off, technical reviews, specification reviews and product ordering support.
  • Lead technical reviews on project designs.
  • Take ownership of specialist and bespoke design projects.
  • Research into new technologies and processes.
  • Ensure engineering compliance is maintained.
  • Complete complex failure analysis investigations and produce reports.
  • Interpretation of an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and effective presentation of information to a varied audience.
  • Selection of suitable materials for various applications.
  • Drive development and extension of the range of products including introduction of new changing concepts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or Higher National Certificates/Diplomas or equivalent from college; with a minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Proficiency with CAD packages such as Solid Edge, Solid Works or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Knowledge of valves & instrumentation design, selection and application would be an advantage.
