Purpose of Sous Chef
Reporting to the Head Chef, the Sous Chef will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, particularly focused on events delivery. The main purpose is to support the head chef in managing the kitchen team, overseeing food preparation, and ensure dishes are executed to the highest standards. The Sous Chef plays a key role in inventory management, adhering to food safety and health and safety standards, record keeping, service execution, training culinary & FOH team. The sous chef assists in running the kitchen efficiently and smoothly.
Responsibilities of Sous Chef
- Support menu planning, preparation, and delivery of all commercial and internal events to the highest standards.
- Lead and motivate the culinary team, ensuring smooth event execution and consistent quality control.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development, stock control, and operational planning.
- Confidently oversee kitchen operations in the Head Chef\’s absence, maintaining performance and efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, allergen, and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Conduct regular audits, stock counts, and accurate end-of-night reporting to support operational insight.
- Manage kitchen equipment, logistics, and stock systems to ensure readiness for all event requirements.
- Deliver ongoing training, inductions, and support for permanent and temporary culinary staff.
