Who we are: Muslim Aid is a UK faith-based international development organisation that provides support to communities around the world affected by disasters, conflict, or endemic poverty without regard to their social, religious, or ethnic background. Summary of the role: The Communications & PR Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering Muslim Aid’s (MA) Communications & Public Relation plan. Working with all stakeholders, they will be responsible for implementing and overseeing a wide range of communications, public relations, social/digital, and traditional print and broadcast media relations activities in support of Muslim Aid’s mission, vision, values, brand and strategy. This includes building Muslim Aid’s brand and effectively showcasing the impact of our humanitarian and international development work to our key audience targets.
About the Role:
- Develop and deliver an effective Communications plan with stakeholders in line with organisational priorities and goals.
- Use communications to build and maximise the reputation of Muslim Aid to enable stakeholders to understand the work of the organisation.
- Coordinate and ensure the effective collection/generation, storage, and dissemination of content in line with communication plan needs and in support of the organisation’s communication and income generation goals. Ensure that content is relevant, engaging, and tailored to different audiences, including donors, partners, and the general public.
- Ensure the Muslim Aid brand is represented at its best in all external communications, enhancing the brand awareness and image.
- Develop and execute effective PR plans/campaigns that raise awareness of the organisation’s work, build its reputation, and attract new supporters and support advocacy asks, including through translating brand and key messages into media concepts and compelling stories.
- Provide general administrative assistance in support of the smooth running of the Supporter Relations Department.
- Work with national, regional and specialist media to provide accurate, accessible and authoritative information on Muslim Aid’s work.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Educated to a degree level in Communications or related Field.
- Substantial experience operating at a managerial level in communications, with additional experience in public relations.
- Practical experience of developing and reviewing communication strategies and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and converting strategy into delivery.
- Experience of tailoring communication messages to key audiences in all sections of the community, including the media, hostile and antagonistic audiences.
- Proven ability to coordinate media campaigns, and communication plans (internal and external).
- Proven ability to secure publicity – particularly in national and consumer media.
