The Role

As a Lead Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering activities, ensuring production runs smoothly, and driving performance improvements. You will coordinate maintenance tasks, support continuous improvement initiatives, and lead a team of engineers to deliver operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate engineering activities during shifts.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed, with all work documented correctly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with processing and packaging machinery.
  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance to maximise plant efficiency.
  • Uphold Health & Safety, GMP, and hygiene standards across operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering team.
  • Communicate effectively with Shift Managers and other key stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A mechanical or electrical qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of processing and packaging machinery.
  • The ability to troubleshoot PLC and robotic systems.
  • Experience in preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance.
  • A background in continuous improvement projects (Lean Six Sigma desirable).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
