Job Introduction
We’re recruiting Journalists to work on BBC Newsnight. We’re about added-value conversation, consequential interviews, and gripping debate and discussion. It\’s about fresh insights and forensic interviews. We’re looking for sharp journalists with creative ideas and strong analytical skills. We want a great team player with ambition and ideas. We’re looking for a creative journalist who shows bags of initiative and passionately cares about making the best output. You will have lots of ideas and enjoy working to tight deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver great ideas for stories, guests, and creative treatments that give Newsnight a strong identity.
- Work to tight deadlines.
- Have a good understanding of the news agenda and a track record in spotting trends and stories behind the headline.
- Collaborate with other parts of the BBC to give our original stories the best possible exposure on the appropriate platforms and create impact.
- Contribute to a dynamic, supportive, and creative work culture.
- Maintain personal effectiveness by managing emotions in the face of pressure and setbacks.
- Demonstrate an approach to work that is characterized by commitment, motivation, and energy.
- Fix and provide briefs for high-impact interviews with fast turnarounds and tight deadlines.

- Experience working in daily news in journalism.
- Ability to perform to a high standard in a breaking news environment, working with fast turnarounds and tight deadlines.
- Strong fixer and able to demonstrate a creative streak with the ability to make output that has impact.
- Strong editorial judgment.
- Good understanding of the news agenda.
- Welcome constructive feedback and use it to develop your skills.
- Demonstrable ability to bring creative ideas to the table.
- Experience of working with high-profile talent is helpful.
- Strong writing skills.
