As the Test Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the testing activities in a project and ensuring the quality of the software or system being developed. This role requires both technical expertise in testing and strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the management of all testing activities within complex development or integration projects or programmes, combining effort as appropriate with IT staff, suppliers and clients/users.
- Monitors and controls the testing effort and records and publishes testing metrics required to manage the testing activities.
- Lead on the practicality of testing process alternatives, including automated testing.
- Gives advice to both client/user and management to determine the most appropriate testing approaches for complex projects or programmes within the constraints and operational requirements of the organisation.
- Manages overall client relationships and sets expectations with respect to all testing matters.
- Responsible for reporting on the effectiveness of testing for projects within the Transformation Programme and identifying improvements to the testing process.
- Responsible for the pre-test phases e.g. Quality Assurance (QA) and pre-requisite planning, working with internal and external resources to ensure environmental readiness for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Defines strategies to ensure the most effective and efficient testing is carried out, including the use of specialised testing tools and techniques.
- Managing all risks associated with testing and taking preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
- Evaluates risk potential based on the results of the testing during any/all stages of the project.
- Determines project-testing standards for all phases, influencing all parties to conform to those standards.
- Liaises with project managers to manage the expectations for the testing stages of projects.
- Agrees acceptance criteria and corrective action.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Educated to degree level or in possession of an equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience.
- Significant experience of effectively leading the development of a Test Strategy, designing test approaches and test planning, test execution and defect management.
- Experience in the delivery of test management throughout the test lifecycle and thorough understanding of risk-based testing.
- In-depth experience of effective leadership of test teams, coordination, working with external suppliers and development teams with a proven track record, managing conflicts and ensuring team productivity.
