Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion Lead

Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead and demonstrate consistently outstanding practice with a focus on teaching pupils with autism.
- Mentor and promote excellent practice among staff, challenging them to achieve their best.
- Lead the creation of engaging learning environments that support active participation and learning.
- Carry out whole school leadership roles, ensuring the quality of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are maintained at a high standard.
- Coordinate all EHCP annual reviews, delegating responsibilities and ensuring the documents and meetings are of a high standard.
- Serve as the key point of contact with external agencies, including the local authority and support services.
- Manage referrals, consultations, and the admission process of new students.
- Develop systems to track progress made towards EHCP targets and work alongside the curriculum team to embed these targets into learning.
- Deliver training externally for staff and parents on specific aspects of education and care.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven senior leadership experience and skills, not necessarily from a special school background.
- Ability to inspire and form strong positive relationships with colleagues.
- Solution-focused, innovative, and capable of instigating sustainable systems and processes for more efficient and effective leadership.
- Experience in teaching pupils with autism and a track record of outstanding professional practice.
- Ability to acknowledge, mentor, and promote excellent practice among staff.
