Senior Digital Marketing Executive (12m FTC)

The Team

This role sits within the Business Developing & Marketing function of the Firm. The Business Development & Marketing team partners with the Firm in the development of our business, builds relationships with existing and potential clients and manages our market profile.

In broad terms, the team:

  1. Manages our relationships with the media and seeks out the most appropriate opportunities;
  2. Drives the positioning of our brand through client service and thought leadership;
  3. Creates and manages the strategic business plans at a client, partner, sector and practice group level;
  4. Manages the firm’s key client relationship and client listening programmes;
  5. Creates and implements the firm’s digital strategy;
  6. Provides strategic advice and co-ordination on pitching opportunities and manages the rehearsals process;
  7. Works with our Research and Information Services Team to produce and analyse companies, sectors and countries;
  8. Works with key stakeholders and individuals on submissions to the main legal directories/awards and advises practices on how best to promote their capabilities;
  9. Manages the production of bulletins and briefings from the conceptual stage through to distribution;
  10. Delivers events that enhance our brand and provide opportunities to build relationships with clients, potential clients, intermediaries and the press.

There are c. 50 employees in the Business Development and Marketing team across London, Guildford, Cheltenham, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Paris and it is divided into three key areas:

  1. Business Development and Relationships;
  2. Marketing;
  3. Communications.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles.
  2. Lead the Digital Marketing team in developing, maintaining and updating the Firm’s external digital platforms.
  3. Oversee and promote the Firm’s content strategy, including the execution of a variety of digital content marketing activities including thought leadership, blogs, articles, webinars etc – ensuring high quality delivery.
  4. Effectively deliver digital marketing campaigns to increase awareness and understanding of the Firm, its strengths, reputation and capabilities.
  5. Working with and utilising the events team to support the planning and delivery of a variety of local targeted events, such as seminars, webinars workshops, etc.
  6. Produce and publish regular, accurate social media content, ensuring all posts adhere to best practice and brand guidelines standards at all times.
  7. Using the firm’s CRM tool, InterAction, to create, maintain and refine shared targets and other marketing lists for campaigns and events.
  8. Encourage Partners, Associates and Business Services staff to engage with the Firm’s digital marketing campaigns.
  9. Work closely with the Head of Communications and Head of Business Development and Relationships to ensure all digital content and campaigns support the Firms strategy.
  10. Manage and monitor the production of web statistics and commentary to produce content reports.
  11. Involvement in and support for local and firm wide projects, initiatives or campaigns where appropriate and requested.
  12. Line manage and mentor members of the London Marketing & BD Executive team, including the Digital Marketing Assistant.

Skills and experience

  1. An in-depth understanding of the importance of marketing campaigns and brand to successful organisations.
  2. Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  3. Some knowledge of marketing databases (preferably InterAction).
  4. Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal – the role involves liaison with internal and external people at a senior level and internationally.
  5. Attention to detail.
  6. Organisational ability within a pressurised environment.

Person specification

  1. Experience of marketing, communication or business development preferably in a professional services environment.
  2. Able to influence at all levels.
  3. Excellent communicator with high level written and oral skills.
  4. A proven track record of results.
  5. Ability to work closely with PR, Internal Communications and Business Development teams.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines from multiple stakeholders.
