An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading Tier One main contractor delivering large-scale public building developments in the West of Scotland. The Role

  • Managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors to ensure design compliance and efficiency
  • Reviewing and coordinating technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
  • Identifying and mitigating design risks, ensuring cost-effective and buildable solutions
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual requirements, programme deadlines, and quality standards
  • Supporting bid and tender submissions by providing design expertise

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within a Tier One main contractor or similar environment
  • Strong background in delivering large-scale public sector building projects (e.g. healthcare, defence, civic buildings)
  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations, planning processes, and construction methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive design solutions that balance quality, cost, and programme requirements
  • Proficiency in design management software and BIM methodologies
  • Relevant degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
