You will be joining the Data Center Team, a centralized function within Technology Operations that delivers our services globally. We provide services across multiple cloud providers as well as our own private cloud hosted in our Data Centres. You will help to maintain and deliver new and inspired solutions for the business. You’ll work with colleagues to investigate, develop techniques, and establish best practices to improve our offering across DAZN. This role will be based in our London Hammersmith office and requires frequent travel to our UK Data Centres. Occasional travel to our global points of presence (PoPs) may be necessary in case of emergencies, and out of hours support may be required.
As our new Data Center Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Installation and configuration: Installing new hardware, cabling, and configuring out of band management, including proper rack and stack configuration.
- Hardware maintenance: Performing routine checks, preventative maintenance, and repairs on servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
- Data Centre infrastructure management (DCIM): Using specialized tooling to monitor and manage data centre assets, power usage, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, storage, network connectivity, and power supply.
- Disaster recovery planning: Developing and testing disaster recovery strategies to ensure data redundancy and business continuity.
- Capacity planning: Monitoring data centre capacity and forecasting future needs to prevent potential bottlenecks.
- Compliance management: Ensuring adherence to data centre regulations and security standards.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of data centre configurations, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
You'll have:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Data Centre Engineer or in a similar role.
- Access to a vehicle at all times with a full UK License; a valid passport is required for international travel.
- Demonstrable experience in the installation of various physical server infrastructure, storage, cabling, and common networking technologies.
- Advanced troubleshooting expertise in server and storage hardware, network cabling & protocols (TCP/IP), power, and cooling systems.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and performing cable management.
- Sufficient experience in troubleshooting connectivity and boot issues on server operating systems (Linux, Windows).
- Experience in creating, maintaining, and supporting Data Centre processes, applying critical thinking, and producing quality reporting.
- Excellent communication skills, including the presentation of complex ideas to a variety of audiences and the production of accurate written documentation.
