Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in East London, is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader to join their team and play a crucial role in their pensions operations.
Position: Accounts Payable Team Leader (Fully Remote)
Rate: £22.70 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (3 Months) with Possible Extension
Purpose:
- To manage the day-to-day operational functions of the Accounts Payable team, ensuring that invoices are processed and paid in accordance with prevailing legislation, the Council’s Financial Regulations, and agreed standards and timescales, while also ensuring that the Council meets its statutory financial and other reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to continuous improvement, promoting systems and process development to ensure ongoing efficiency, control, and best practice for effective accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Support all internal and external audits of the Accounts Payable function, providing all audit requirements within agreed timescales and ensuring all relevant audit and inspection recommendations are implemented.
- Carry out reviews to identify fraudulent activity and report to the proper authorities both internally and externally under advice from the Fraud Team.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- At least 1 year of experience in an Accounts Payable Team Leader role or equivalent.
- Experience of financial policy, process, and legislation combined with relevant qualifications such as MAAT or ACCA accredited, or working towards, or equivalent practical and extensive experience.
- Extensive practical experience in Purchase to Pay and Accounts Payable processes.
- Experience of dealing with difficult conversations with suppliers, contractors, HMRC, or other stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner, effectively resolving issues promptly.
