This isn’t just another leadership position. No legacy systems. No corporate red tape. No coasting. This is about building something from the ground up. We’re Navro, a rapidly scaling B2B payments startup, and we’re looking for an organised, detailed, self-starter to lead our data protection initiatives. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring we remain compliant with global data privacy regulations, shaping policies, and working across teams to implement best-in-class data security measures. This isn’t a passenger role - we’re bringing you in for your expertise and relentless drive to make an impact.

You won’t just be managing a standard compliance framework; you’ll be defining and shaping the future of data protection at Navro. You will have the freedom to make real, impactful decisions from day one. This is your chance to build, innovate, and create a best-in-class data privacy function in one of the most exciting fintech startups.

Who We Are

We are transforming payments for global platforms and e-commerce businesses. As the world’s first payments curation platform, we simplify cross-border transactions by uniting best-in-class infrastructure into a seamless ecosystem, enabling businesses to scale and operate effortlessly across borders. Cross-border workforce payments are slow, expensive, and outdated. Businesses rely on us to pay their people accurately and on time - contractors, freelancers, and employees across the globe. When we say we’ll deliver, failure isn’t an option.

Requirements

  • You Own It - You’re accountable for ensuring Navro meets all data privacy regulations across multiple jurisdictions. If there’s a compliance issue, you fix it.
  • You Ask the Hard Questions - You challenge assumptions, push boundaries, and make us better. Are we fully compliant? What are the risks?
  • You Fix What’s Broken - No waiting for permission. If a policy is outdated or a process is weak, you dive in and improve it.
  • You’re Hands-On - One minute, you’re negotiating a Data Protection Agreement with a client; the next, you’re mapping regulatory requirements for a new market.
  • You Thrive in Chaos - Startups are messy. Regulations evolve, jurisdictions differ, and ambiguity is constant. You bring clarity and adapt without getting bogged down by rigid processes.
  • You Handle the Pressure - Fast-paced. High stakes. You balance multiple projects, manage tight timelines, and keep moving forward.
  • You’re Here for the Journey - This is career-defining. It’s hard, rewarding, and not for the faint-hearted. If you’re ready to grow alongside Navro, let’s build something amazing together.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Serve as Data Protection Officer for the UK and oversee Data Protection for our EU entity.
  • Be the primary point of contact within the Navro Group for data protection and privacy issues.
  • Update and maintain Navro’s data protection map, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with Legal to negotiate client-specific Data Protection Addendums and agreements.
  • Provide reactive responses and management in the event of a data breach.
  • Review and assess product requirement documents for data privacy clauses and risks.
  • Maintain client-facing privacy documentation.
  • Keep internal teams informed of regulatory changes that might impact data privacy policies.
  • Work with the International Expansion team to assess and implement privacy requirements for new markets.
  • Maintain, in conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer, the firm’s Enterprise Wide Risk Assessment for Data Privacy.
  • Adapt and expand responsibilities as the company grows.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Privacy Expert - You have 5+ years of experience as a Data Privacy Manager, DPO, or in a similar role.
  • Regulatory Guru - You’re well-versed in the UK and at least one other jurisdiction’s (EU/USA) data privacy regulations.
  • Payments/Financial Services Knowledge - Experience in the payments, payroll, pension, or financial services space is a big plus.
  • Global Mindset - You can map your knowledge to other jurisdictions as part of our international expansion.
  • Technical Understanding - Familiarity with AWS/Google Privacy tools and how privacy works in practice.
  • Strong Negotiator - You can navigate complex agreements and work with clients on privacy clauses.
  • Detail-Obsessed - You don’t miss a thing. Your attention to detail and decision-making capabilities are top-notch.
  • Collaborator Extraordinaire - You work seamlessly across teams, from Legal to Engineering to Compliance.
  • Problem Solver - You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of global compliance frameworks.
