We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technician with an electrical qualification to join our engineering team. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving complex automated systems, ensuring high performance and minimal downtime in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Working days: Tuesday to Saturday
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on a variety of automated machinery, including PLC-controlled systems, conveyors, robotics, and manufacturing equipment.
- Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults to maintain optimal machine efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for equipment optimisation and implement upgrades to enhance reliability and productivity.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with UK electrical regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records, complete shift handovers, and update CMMS (MaintainX).
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, continuous improvement, and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.
Your profile Requirements:
- Essential: Electrically qualified (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2382/2391, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent). Knowledge and interest in mechatronic systems, including robotics, automation, PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.), and SCADA systems. Experience in a manufacturing, automotive, FMCG, or industrial automation environment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies and root cause analysis. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in both electrical and mechanical disciplines. Familiarity with UK safety standards (e.g., PUWER, LOLER, and BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
- Desirable: Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and motor control systems. Understanding of Industry 4.0 and IoT-based predictive maintenance. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). PLC programming or modification experience. Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Lean methodologies.
