LAS Doctor ST3+ – Elderly CareApplications are invited for a LAS ST3+ Doctors to support our Medical Division in Older Adults. This post is available fixed term from, The Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with its own Medical School and has a newly built Academic Complex. You must have experience in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric Medicine; be comfortable in the initial assessment and ongoing treatment of acutely ill, adult medical patients with a wide variety of pathology. You will work under consultant supervision and within a dedicated team at all times. As a University hospital and a major tertiary centre we offer a large variety of sub-specialty services providing an excellent learning environment. There will be requirement to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. While these posts do not have educational approval they provide excellent experience and access to the same educational resources as our Trust approved training order to be considered applicants must have FULL GMC Registration, Basic Life Support and have previous experience of working in the NHS.Applications can be made on-line via NHS jobs, To agree, a contract of employment.

To observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trusts Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.

To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.

To comply with all Trust requirements of appraisal, assessment and of the proposed medical training programme as stipulated by the programme leads.

To compete Trust general and local induction

To work appropriately and effectively within your clinical team within the limits of your competency under clinical and educational supervision.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, and commensurate with your grade, to play a full part in the supervision and support of other members of your team including more junior medical staff.

In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.

In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met and to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.

To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any risks, incidents and hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent

  • Full GMC registration

  • MRCP part1 / part 2written or equivalent examination cleared.

  • Advanced Life Support

Desirable

  • MRCP (full examination cleared)

  • Awards / distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2-3 years Senior House Officer / CMT or clear demonstration of equivalent experience.

  • Evidence of safe, sound clinical practices

  • 1-year in a substantive post within the UK or clear demonstration of equivalent experience elsewhere

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching medical students

  • Audit and Research in the specialty
