DP World in the UK is at the heart of Britain’s trading future, providing the right trading infrastructure, smart logistical solutions, and the benefits of freeport status to our customers. An excellent opportunity has opened within our Operations department for a Day Labour Planner to join us and be based out of our operation in the London Gateway. Reporting to the Labour Superintendent, our ideal candidate will need to plan, organise and manage labour required for terminal operations, maximising efficiency and effectiveness whilst considering commercial, operational, and safety factors.

Location: Stanford Le Hope

Working Hours: Monday - Friday (with the occasional weekend cover if needed)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Labour Superintendent, Labour Planners, and Operations Management to determine daily labour needs and ensure the right staff with the right skills are on shift.
  • Plan for both short-term and long-term labour demands to avoid conflicts and ensure urgent needs are met.
  • Monitor and record labour deployment to ensure effectiveness.
  • Deploy labour with a focus on cost control, keeping overtime within agreed targets.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve labour efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with agencies for additional contract labour when needed.
  • Maintain records for financial and management reports.
  • Collaborate with the training department to ensure staff skill levels are appropriate.
  • Provide labour statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Update and maintain computer systems for managing terminal labour resources.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in proactive problem-solving and innovation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work resiliently and positively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in labour planning.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Excellent organisational skills to deal with last minute changes to the work schedule.
  • Good communication and influencing skills to ensure that all resource requirements are met for each shift.
