An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engagement Officer within the General Education department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based in the City Centre Campus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop person centred intervention strategies to aid retention across their department/s and specific activities for those learners identified as at-risk.
  • Supporting teaching and management teams by chasing poor attendance. This may include phone calls, online and face-to-face meetings, and where appropriate, at home visits where contact is proving difficult.
  • Maintaining and monitoring a caseload of learners with poor levels of engagement and/or at risk of drop out.
  • Providing feedback and report on progress as requested by departmental management team/s.
  • Planning and facilitating activities designed to not only re-engage and motivate learners, but also address identified needs.
  • Linking with internal College support systems to ensure individuals have access all support available.
  • Linking with external support agencies where appropriate in order to provide a wraparound approach to support.

Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
