Role overview:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is a field-based role specifically designed to support the in-depth, technical information needs of the wider Medical Affairs teams. MSLs recognise and communicate feedback and insights of strategic importance by facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and effectively communicate deep scientific knowledge.
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise within the therapeutic area they represent.
- Establish themselves as a reliable, trusted resource of unbiased, accurate, up-to-date, medical and scientific knowledge.
- Excel at customer engagement and support medical/scientific information needs of scientific experts.
- Engage in mutually beneficial 2-way dialogues with Scientific Experts.
- Provide support externally and internally including providing support for research studies, congresses, facilitating IIT, and may provide TA training.
- Effectively communicate complex data and feed back meaningful clinical insights to Lilly medical and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate strategic analysis, territory mapping, planning, and prioritisation to maximize efficiency.
- Implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan prioritising core MSL activity.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Health Sciences (PhD / MD/ PharmD in a medically related field) with at least 2-3 years of relevant haematology clinical or therapeutic experience.
- Field-based position requires the applicant to live on territory (North England or Scotland) and the ability to travel to meet HCPs.
- Haematology experience within areas of interest to Lilly.
- Additional experience in solid tumours is preferred.
- Previous experience as an MSL in Haematology/Oncology.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence, excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to leverage an omnichannel approach in engagement with external experts.
- Learning agility and intellectual curiosity within the field of Science/Medicine.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, effectively managing multiple priorities and projects.
- Resiliency in managing complex challenges.
- The highest ethical standards, with a working knowledge of relevant clinical regulations and industry standards.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly valued.
- Masters or Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences (e.g. BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered with at least 5 years of industry experience (Medical Affairs preferred).
- ABPI code examination to be completed within 1 year.
