As part of LVMH / Moët Hennessy, The Glenmorangie Company crafts, distributes and markets two of Scotland’s most acclaimed single malt whiskies. Glenmorangie is famed as the leading Highland single malt, renowned for its smooth, complex, and accessible taste, its mastery of wood in cask maturation, and its industry leading whisky innovation. Ardbeg is the ultimate Islay whisky and the smokiest of all Scotland’s Single Malts – and is also famed for its unorthodox, envied, and untamed brand.
Reporting into the International Director, the Business Development Director - Americas & Europe is responsible for setting and driving the commercial agenda to unlock growth of Glenmorangie and Ardbeg across two of our key Regions, with direct accountability for the relationship with the US, UK, France, and Germany. Success in this role hinges on building strong cross-functional partnerships within the Scotland-based global team and across Region and Market teams in the Americas and Europe, influencing decision making and driving impact by identifying commercial opportunities to capture short-term growth and build long-term brand desirability. It will be measured by the ability to translate strong relationships and robust understanding of Market context into tangible actions that deliver measurable business impact, and the ability to maximize focus & momentum from our Moët Hennessy partners. Based in Edinburgh, this role will require frequent travel (Americas & Europe).
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the Region's Commercial agenda.
- Work closely with Region and Markets to define clear market prioritization, portfolio focus, pricing & channel strategy, and distribution targets.
- Lead all commercial interactions between Region/Markets and Maison.
- Oversee commercial and brand execution.
- Contribute to Global Brand strategies and annual plan development through insight generation and clear understanding of Market opportunities.
- Ensure the quality of key Market Brand & Commercial plan submissions and oversee their effective implementation in market.
- Support the identification and capture of short-term business opportunities to drive revenue acceleration.
- Ensure quality and consistency of market forecasting, effective supply of products, compliance with key market regulatory requirements and allocation management.
- Act at all times as the ‘voice of the market’ within the Maison, advocating for and securing the necessary support to set the Region and Markets up for success.
- Ensure clear performance management.
- Lead effective measurement, evaluation, and reporting of Regional and key market commercial performance.
- Work with the Finance and Marketing Directors to track and manage risks and opportunities ensuring that annual profit objectives are delivered in full.
- Develop a respected standing within the organisation.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with Region and Market.
- Lead with a ‘roll up the sleeves’ mindset, conducting regular visits into market to support the delivery of brand strategies and commercial plans.
- Act as a respected leader within The Glenmorangie Company, leading by example and positively contributing to the Commercial team and company culture.
Profile Professional/Technical Experience:
- International experience in Wines & Spirits, preferably in USA and/or Europe.
- Proven commercial experience (Sales and/or Marketing) essential; clear commercial understanding and financial acumen.
- Luxury sensibility and ability to balance short-term commercial decisions with long-term brand building objectives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven track record of direct and indirect people leadership.
Languages:
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Professional working proficiency in French and/or other European language(s) highly desirable.
