The Director, Brand Marketing will be responsible for building and leading brand and live service marketing for a portfolio of high profile, multi-device titles. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial success of a portfolio of games. The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and management of holistic global marketing plans that drive growth and profitability for our games. The role involves coaching teams to define and create plans that drive acquisition of new players, engagement and retention of existing players, and re-engagement and reclaim of previous players. Additionally, this person will partner in developing strategy and process for international go-to-market.
Candidates for this role will be self-starters with strong experience in marketing games, live service products, and new business models. The ideal candidate will possess a balance of creativity and analytical thought to drive product strategy and year-round marketing plans to keep players constantly engaged.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead marketing for multiple game franchises
- Set overall marketing strategy for entire lifecycle of products – from greenlight to launch campaign to post-launch live service marketing plans and operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, across SIE and Sony, to deliver best-in-class marketing campaign tactics
- Work closely with consumer insights, analytics and community management teams to assess player needs/behaviours to better define product strategy and pivot ongoing marketing tactics
- Develop best-in-class live service strategy, including always-on, content strategy for Games as a Service
- Manage annual marketing budgets of $50M+
- Lead and mentor a team of marketers in multiple geographic locations
- Partner with studio leadership to deliver on overall business goals for each game
- Partner with international marketing teams to deliver international GTM strategy
What we're looking for:
- Deep understanding of and experience working on AAA Games, platform experience a plus
- Demonstrated record of success in developing high impact global consumer strategies, mass market marketing campaigns, brand marketing, and direct to consumer performance-based marketing, for a portfolio of games/services
- Minimum 10+ years of video game product marketing experience, with a focus on live services and franchise management
- Marketing degree or equivalent – Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Expertise in assessing and building new business models with players in mind
- Live services experience, can include products with continuous revenue models and constantly updated content offerings
- Comprehensive understanding of the full live services marketing funnel, including acquisition, retention, and monetization.
- Ability to make data driven marketing decisions
- Ability to lead individuals in creating and executing the best solutions for the business, partners and consumers
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, and a persistent attention to detail
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, changing, fast-paced environment
- Proven expertise in the planning, execution and leadership of business plans
