Your new role involves overseeing and managing the delivery of complex construction projects and programs within the education and commercial buildings portfolios, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality completion. You will provide strategic oversight, mentor junior staff, and ensure the local authority’s strategic objectives are achieved while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and effective governance. You will lead the execution of high-value and complex construction projects and programs, ensuring they align with the local authority’s strategic objectives, and oversee and line manage 2 project managers. You will also be the point of contact for both external and internal stakeholders, including senior management.
What you'll need to succeed:
- A Degree in Project/Construction Management, Architecture or a similar field.
- Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, APM) or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is desirable.
- Extensive experience in managing complex capital projects, ideally in a similar sized organisation.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ideally, experience of working within a local authority or a public sector organisation.
