Purpose of the Job: Working with the Operations Director, Plant Managers, and plant operations and maintenance teams to ensure the proactive maintenance of the anaerobic digestion facilities. This role is a supervisory one and will include the supervision of the workload of one other CHP Maintenance Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the preventative and reactive maintenance of the facilities to minimise downtime and maximise plant operations.
  • Overseeing the workload of the CHP maintenance team and ensuring that their workload is prioritised.
  • Developing and managing proactive preventative maintenance procedures for all plants.
  • Develop maintenance strategies to proactively deal with challenges arising from unplanned plant failure.
  • Working with the Operations Director and the Plant Managers to prioritise work on the plants CHP’s (Combined Heat and Power) with site maintenance secondary.
  • Focusing on preventative maintenance to reduce the amount of reactive work carried out.
  • Responsible for overseeing the completion of maintenance to ensure that all work is carried out in critical/set timeframes.
  • Site CHP lead engineer working to improve uptime and operational costs associated with the CHPs.
  • Investigating complex technical problems relating to critical plant.
  • Analytical diagnosis of system and asset faults.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action reports for all faults and breakdowns to be shared with the Operations Director and Plant Managers.
  • Responsible for ensuring all plant machinery and hand tools are fit for purpose and H&S compliant.
  • Liaising with the Operations Director and Plant Managers regarding improvement and capex works, ensuring outsourcing is limited and maintenance is carried out by our in-house team where possible.
  • Working with the Plant Operations teams to ensure that Fiix supports the maintenance requirements of the facilities and is used as an integrated tool for preventative maintenance.
  • Developing and improving supplier relationships.
  • Ensuring full details for PO’s for maintenance work are passed to the Operations Director/Plant Managers for the creation/management of the PO process.
  • Working within the maintenance team to control staffing levels and implement a rota to maintain high performance while minimising overtime.
  • Monitoring and maintaining IT control systems and producing required reports, including remote monitoring when off site.
  • Recording and communicating downtime resulting from asset failure, including corrective action plans for senior management.
  • Alongside the operations team, having responsibility for all elements of health and safety.
  • Undertaking plant and site safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
  • Ensuring enforcement of existing Health and Safety policies through a collaborative and educational manner.
  • Reporting all near misses, incidents, and accidents immediately in accordance with company protocols.
  • Ensuring all permits to work are provided before any work is undertaken on site.
  • Providing support to the Regional Manager to ensure compliance by all staff and overseeing outside maintenance contractors within site boundaries.
  • Maintaining site fire systems and checks in collaboration with operations teams on plant.
  • Ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and company policies and guidelines at all times.
  • Supporting training programs when required to facilitate knowledge sharing for plant and operations.
