We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join a family-owned food processing plant near Lanchester. This is a full-time, permanent role working Monday to Friday 7am-4pm, offering a salary of £47-52k per annum dependent on experience.

As Engineering Manager, you will be managing 2 Engineers with overall responsibility for ensuring the plant machinery is maintained correctly and minimising downtime to production. Main duties will include:

  • Managing machine maintenance and breakdowns
  • Site building maintenance & services
  • Managing projects to suit business needs, for example: Mains connection, Filler, High-speed wrapping line, or 150k litres of Silos and plinths
  • Leading and implementing continuous improvement activities
  • Ordering of all spares and materials such as shrink and pallet wrap
  • Reorganization of the department
  • All departmental HR requirements
  • Upkeep and running of 1000 Amp generator
  • Adhering to all BRC audit regulations including grease MSDs and allergen data, site lists and compliance, maintenance file, and ensuring contractors are up to date
  • Conducting onsite audits regularly
  • Equipment purchases (new/auction)
  • Management of set budget (flexible by demands of business)
  • Manage contracts including electricity, FLT, and LPG

We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within an Engineering Manager role or similar
  • It is essential you come from a food or packaging background with varied engineering experience
  • Good mechanical and electrical knowledge is required along with confidence in using PLCs
  • Ability to conduct audits with previous experience with BRC accreditation and requirements
  • Proven success in electrical and mechanical fault finding and resolution
  • Confident people manager who can offer direction to the team and make key decisions
  • Good IT skills including MS Office Word and Excel
  • Health & Safety conscious individual
