<p>The design engineer will complete design and project work as specified by the Senior Technical Staff. The design engineer should have the ability to oversee projects for a small team or group. The design engineer will be responsible for meeting project release deadlines as they are established for all small team projects. </p> <p><b>Roles and Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul><li>Ensuring the projects’ goals are met from operational, performance, and efficiency standpoints as well as preventing any packaging issues.</li> <li>Creating and facilitating procedures to ensure that all issued drawings are 100% complete, error-free, and all tolerances are appropriate for the application.</li> <li>Reviewing project details, issues, and concerns with the Engineering Group during scheduled design reviews.</li> <li>Ensure all projects are properly documented as required.</li> <li>Working with other engineers as a team and provide guidance on design and analysis.</li> <li>Attending the engineering meeting as necessary.</li> <li>Attend race or test events as needed – not a full-time traveling position.</li> <li>Documenting and reporting results and processes for projects</li> </ul><p> </p> <p><b>Qualifications:</b></p> <p>The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering along with 4+ years’ experience in design work. Experience with Siemens Suite, inclusive of NX and Teamcenter, is strongly considered. It is highly desirable that the candidate have motorsports related design experience. Bachelor’s level Engineering Technology degrees with be considered on a case by case basis. Experience in the following areas will be advantages:</p> <p> </p> <ul><li>Design of highly loaded mechanical systems and components. Examples include suspension, chassis and steering systems.</li> <li>FEA backed up with hand calculations, and knowledge of practical FEA application.</li> <li>Material selections based on component operating conditions and manufacturing considerations.</li> <li>Modern, low-volume manufacturing methods: hand fabrication, machining, casting, EDM, composites, rapid prototyping.</li> <li>Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics.</li> <li>Understanding of fluid systems, dampers and/or damper design.</li> <li>Composite design and surfacing skills.</li> <li>Use of rapid prototype and scanning equipment.</li> <li>Understanding of Faro Arm or other measurement equipment.</li> <li>4+ years of motorsports experience.</li> </ul>
