About the Role: Are you a skilled and motivated Fire Service Engineer looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team, specialising in preventative and reactive maintenance on fire systems. This role involves the installation, servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems in both commercial and residential settings. If you have technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on fire alarm systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and servicing to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults and failures, providing efficient and effective solutions.
  • Ensure all work meets BS 5839, BAFE, and other relevant standards.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers on system functionality and operation.
  • Collaborate with managers, technicians, and other engineers to complete installations on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and service reports.
  • Follow health and safety protocols, ensuring all work is carried out safely and compliantly.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Service Engineer within the Fire and Security industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and suppression systems (experience with brands like Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, etc., is an advantage).
  • Relevant qualifications in fire alarm and security systems (e.g., FIA, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, including BS 5839, BS 5266, and BAFE guidelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid UK Driving License (or equivalent if outside the UK).
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and participate in an on-call rota when required.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in programming and configuring fire alarm and security systems.
  • Certifications such as ECS/CSCS Card, FIA, IOSH, IFE.
  • Previous experience working with networked fire and security solutions.
  • Experience with commissioning and system integration.
