Climax Studios was established nearly 30 years ago, with an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, and has won multiple awards along the way. We have a state of the art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Albert Dock in Liverpool overlooking the Harbour. We are seeking an experienced Technical Artist with proven skills and extensive experience using Unreal, working on Console titles to join our award-winning team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a AAA IP where you will be responsible for bridging the gap between the animation, design and code teams, setting up animation Blueprints and systems, working with blend trees, state machines and helping to ensure the smooth integration of player characters and enemies into the game. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of passionate and experienced developers on a AAA project.

Requirements
  • Experience working as a Technical Artist on at least one published console title.
  • Proven experience working within Unreal Engine 5.
  • Strong proficiency with UE5 animation systems (blend trees, state machines, animation layering, transition blending, control rig).
  • Experience with procedural animation systems (Foot IK, Look-At, Realtime IK).
  • Familiar with in-game animation processes and workflows.
  • Experience in using version control systems.
  • Experience working with metahuman (advantageous but not crucial).
  • Experience with physics-based animation, chaos physics, ragdolls, cloth, hair (advantageous but not crucial).
  • Be able to work collaboratively with artists, animators, designers and programmers.
  • Enjoys a creative challenge with the passion and motivation to make great games.
  • Experience of helping to plan and schedule workflows.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain UE5 blueprints and animation systems.
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for animation Blueprints and systems.
  • Keep to project vision for best practices, methodologies used and quality benchmark.
  • Work with the wider art, design and code teams to champion best technical practices.
  • As part of reviews, able to provide constructive critique and solutions.
  • Ability to self-motivate as well as motivate other members of the team.
