We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, experienced designer to join our Design Eye team, creating outstanding children’s books and book kits for the trade and co-edition partners around the world.
Contract: Permanent, full time
Salary: From £29,000 per annum
Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our London office and two working from home.
About the role:
This is a varied and exciting role for a highly creative and organised person. Reporting to the Art Director, you will work closely with the commissioning team to design covers and sample spreads for new projects. You will also support the editorial team with design-related tasks on live titles and reprints. You will need to ensure that all work is delivered on schedule and to the highest standard, and that all administration and file management is up to date and accurate.
What you will be involved in:
- Designing concept covers and spreads for new ideas
- Producing materials for book fairs and sales presentations
- Designing and commissioning covers and spreads for live titles
- Resolving technical issues and performing pre-press checks
- Supporting the editorial team with design queries
- Briefing and managing freelance designers and illustrators
- Managing corrections on reprints and backlist titles
- Working to agreed schedules and budgets
- Researching and maintaining awareness of trends in illustration and finding illustrators to suit projects and work within budget
