Job Description
A leading national multi-disciplinary consultancy, renowned for its excellence in the property, infrastructure, and construction industries, is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Designer to join their team in Birmingham.
The Principal Designer Role
The successful Principal Designer will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the design risk management process across various projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on significant and complex projects, providing expert advice and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations. The Principal Designer will be instrumental in enhancing the safety and efficiency of construction processes.
Responsibilities
- Leading the design risk management process and acting as the Principal Designer under CDM 2015 regulations.
- Coordinating with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into the design process.
- Conducting thorough risk assessments and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
- Preparing and reviewing pre-construction information, construction phase plans, and health and safety files.
- Facilitating design team meetings and workshops to promote best practices in health and safety.
- Providing training and guidance on CDM regulations and safety protocols.
The successful Principal Designer
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience in a Principal Designer role within the property, infrastructure, and construction industries.
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, with strong problem-solving abilities.
