Our client are a leader in high-pressure fluid management. They design and manufacture a wide range of products that enable the controlled use of high-pressure and flow-generating equipment. Their product offerings include pumps, gas boosters, air amplifiers, and hydrogen compression solutions. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will play a key role in customer-focused projects, where they will design gas, hydraulic, and process systems from first principles. You will be responsible for creating detailed schematics, system designs, and CAD drawings while liaising directly with customers to ensure designs meet their needs and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate as part of the design team to deliver systems on time and to specification.
  • Conceptualise system designs, including circuits, pumps, tooling, and fabrication processes.
  • Produce engineering calculations to ensure that designs meet required specifications, including thermodynamics, mechanical design, material compatibility, and flow calculations.
  • Create P&ID (Process & Instrumentation Diagram) drawings and bill of materials using AutoCAD.
  • Produce detailed drawings and general arrangement drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Specify and verify components in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Complete all engineering and project documentation, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and CE marking directives.
  • Lead design reviews, communicating system designs to the full project team.
  • Develop and maintain technical files, including PED technical files, ATEX/IECEx technical files, and customer-specific quality documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Engineering-related degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous relevant experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally in gas, hydraulic, or process systems.
Key Competencies:
  • Excellent technical skills, especially with computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
