An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Theatre Clinical Education team based at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. The main duties of this post will be to lead on the implementation of digital technologies in the operating theatres at UHDB, to include EQuip management of medical devices and the new EPR system.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for teaching, training and development and supporting staff in the clinical area. You should be passionate about patient safety and maintaining high standards of care. The successful candidate should have experience as a Band 5 theatre practitioner, have a good application of knowledge of operating department practice, and are able to demonstrate active support of all levels of staff.

You should be confident to share knowledge, undertake teaching sessions, make assessments of practice, and be able to action plan and set objectives to achieve competency. Responsibilities of the role will be to support the theatre teams with the implementation of digital technologies in UHDB theatres. Alongside the theatre matrons and the lead theatre education lead, you will be responsible for supporting the introduction of the EQuip medical devices database and the new trust EPR system in our operating theatre.

Your role will also include the delivery of training programmes, support of staff in the clinical environment, audit and policy/guideline development. Team working with other educators inside and outside theatres is expected and you will play a key role in the on-going development of the Theatre Strategy. Evidence of a recognised teaching/mentoring/supervisory qualification, alongside excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates should possess the ability to monitor, maintain and improve service and education delivery.
