Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Explosives Safety and Compliance Manager to join a leading defence organisation based in Henlow. This role will involve ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory regulations, particularly the COMAH regulation, to maintain continued production capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain safe systems of work, processes, and controls for all OME
- Support audits and inspections with HSE and other relevant bodies
- Develop and agree on an independent audit program
- Audit the management and control of explosive items/stock on-site
- Support site COMAH compliance activities
- Maintain a level of knowledge and understanding of explosives and health and safety regulations
- Support site and process improvements from an explosives safety perspective
- Train personnel on matters of explosive safety
- Review health and safety audit and test reports
- Provide cover for the Explosives Safety Authority Manufacturing Manager
Key Requirements:
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience in an Explosives related field
- Demonstrable knowledge of general Health and Safety legislation
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of explosives licencing legislation
- Practical experience and expertise in the control and handling of OME
- Good understanding of Project Management
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS),
