Managing Quantity Surveyor/ Commercial Manager – London

Salary: £70k – £80k

A top Civil Engineering contractor is currently seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor/ Commercial Manager to work on a £600m project in Central London with the site office based out of Vauxhall. This contractor operates worldwide within a range of disciplines but is currently looking for someone with a strong background working with main contractors on civil rail projects.

With the project due to last until 2020, there will be opportunities to progress further in this role. The client is interviewing immediately. With a strong order book within Rail, future projects within London and throughout the UK, this is a great opportunity for an ambitious candidate.

Desired Skills

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or other relevant subject.
  • Extensive experience delivering large multi-discipline Rail projects within a main contracting environment.
  • Professionally qualified and accredited Senior QS/Commercial Manager (MRICS).
  • Experience managing a team of quantity surveyors.
  • Strong contractual knowledge and understanding of various forms of contract including NEC and NR contracts.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to the commercial team and develop the skills and competencies of the staff to ensure successful succession planning.
  • Liaise with the Employers\’ commercial team.
  • Ensure the necessary internal and external periodic valuations and reports are prepared and issued in line with deadlines.
  • Implement commercial procedures and reporting to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements.
  • Work alongside the Project Commercial Director in other areas to ensure a consistent approach across the business.
  • Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues.
  • Management of a commercial team comprising the following functions: Quantity surveying, Supply chain management, Contract administration, Cost capture and control, KPI Reporting.
  • Provide commercial advice to the Senior Management Team.
