We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and resourceful Community Outreach Manager to help MongoDB reach and empower developers in their preferred learning forums. This role will focus on fostering engagement across a range of MongoDB-managed and third-party (3P) forums like Reddit and Stack Overflow, and implementing new strategies to encourage active participation.
As a key member of our Developer Relations team, you will be responsible for developing and managing community programs, supporting contributors, and ensuring developers get the answers they need to be productive through meaningful discussions, content visibility, and community-led advocacy. Our Developer Relations team is distributed around the world. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in London for our hybrid working model, offering you an opportunity to be part of a truly global team.
As the Community Outreach Manager, you will:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MongoDB’s community forum, focusing on enhancing engagement through strategic community initiatives, refining moderation and escalation processes, and sharing product insights gained.
- Actively monitor and support MongoDB-related discussions on sites including Stack Overflow, Reddit, Dev.to, Discord, and GitHub.
- Develop and implement programs to highlight community code and content contributions such as community challenges, coding content and referral programs.
- Work with MongoDB Social team to increase and promote posting of community activity and sharing code and content on key social channels and sites.
- Collaborate closely with our Developer Advocates and other internal stakeholders while supporting them to engage with our developer community.
- Work closely with our content strategy lead to cross-promote MongoDB content, open source projects, and initiatives.
- Partner with external influencers and industry experts to drive advocacy.
- Track and analyze key community engagement metrics, providing regular reports on forum activity, top contributors, and engagement trends.
- Identify opportunities for program improvements based on data insights.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in developer community management or developer relations. Other related roles and experiences may also be considered.
- Strong understanding of developer ecosystems, developer forums and open source contributions.
- A proven track record of successfully building forum programs and new community engagement programs.
- Excellent data analysis skills, including a focus on establishing community metrics and measurements.
- Ability to thrive in collaborative environments, effectively engaging with cross-functional teams and external community members while moving the ball forward independently.
- Understanding of database and related developer technologies.
