There is now a great opportunity to join a well-established engineering company that designs, develops, and manufactures a range of bespoke products for a number of Stress Engineers. As Stress Engineer, you will work as part of a wider team on all phases of the project life cycle including design, development, validation, and production for a range of high-value products. The successful candidates will be the structural technical authority for several products, responsible for conducting Finite Element Analysis (baseline software is Abaqus) of components (metals, rubber/rigid insulants, bondlines, pressure vessels). Support and training will be provided for the successful candidate to fill any gaps in knowledge and experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Stress analysis of new and existing complex components & systems.
- Typical analysis tasks will include:
- Linear / Non-linear static analysis
- Transient thermomechanical analysis
- Vibration analysis
- Fatigue analysis
- Viscoelastic analysis
Experience:
- We are interested in speaking to Junior Engineers who have recently completed their studies and Senior Stress Engineers who are seeking to take a lead role in the department.
- Educated to degree level with relevant Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or Material Science)
- Previous experience in the use of FEA software
- Good appreciation of material science (Metals, composites, viscoelastic materials, adhesives, and manufacturing methods)
- Experience with CAD modelling & programming techniques to conduct analysis (Altair-Hyperworks / Fortran / Python / Matlab/Mathcad)
- Ability to apply critical thinking to complex technical problems
