We're on the lookout for an experienced Shopify Product Owner to join our growing Solutions Team! This role can be based in one of our three offices - Stockton-on-Tees, Manchester, or Newcastle - but we're also open to remote candidates based in the UK with full right-to-work. As a Shopify Product Owner, you will be instrumental in delivering and evolving innovative Shopify-based eCommerce solutions defined by the Solutions Team. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will act as the primary advocate for our clients, ensuring that all developments align with their business goals and deliver measurable value. Your role will involve translating scoping documents into technical specifications and actionable user stories, managing product roadmaps, and championing the Shopify ecosystem to deliver client and business value.
You will oversee backlog management, create clear and concise technical documentation, and deliver high-quality product increments that meet both internal and external stakeholder expectations. Collaborating closely with the Solutions Team, your focus will be on understanding their defined solutions, adhering to their processes, and effectively communicating the approach to all relevant parties. By understanding the Shopify ecosystem and leveraging its capabilities, you will ensure that Visualsoft delivers cutting-edge solutions while maintaining exceptional client satisfaction and driving commercial success.
Duties & Responsibilities- Product Roadmap Management and Delivery: Collaborate with the Solutions Team to understand defined Shopify solutions and technical documentation, ensuring alignment with client and business objectives. Develop and manage a Shopify product roadmap for complex software projects, setting priorities that balance client needs, technical feasibility, and business goals. Write and manage technical documentation to a high standard, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with defined solutions. Translate client requirements into effective user stories, product specifications, and tasks that designers and developers can execute. Lead the end-to-end implementation of Shopify solutions, ensuring they meet client requirements, timelines, and budgets. Work closely with Engineering teams to validate technical feasibility and monitor the progress of development. Plan and manage the regular deployment of high-value product increments. Maintain and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring tasks are well defined, actionable, and in line with the Solutions Team's specifications. Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, to keep teams aligned. Ensure all solutions adhere to Shopify best practices and comply with industry standards. Stay informed of industry trends, emerging Shopify capabilities, and regularly analyse competitor offerings to enhance Visualsoft's Shopify service portfolio.
- Client and Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for all Shopify product-related queries, ensuring key stakeholders are engaged and informed throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and align on deliverables.
- User Research and Insights: Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis, to understand user needs and pain points. Use insights from research to inform product decisions, ensuring that features and improvements are user-centric and deliver real value. Continuously gather feedback from users post-launch to identify areas for improvement and enhancement.
- Performance Tracking and Optimisation: Monitor the performance of Shopify implementations post-launch, gathering data and client feedback for continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to enhance client satisfaction, improve platform performance, and increase efficiency. Measure product outcomes and success against predefined KPIs and iterate to achieve optimal results.
- Internal Knowledge Sharing and Advocacy: Champion Shopify knowledge and capabilities within the team and wider organisation, sharing insights and updates to keep key teams informed of platform developments. Deliver internal training sessions and develop documentation to improve the team's understanding of Shopify capabilities.
- Essential: Proven experience in a Product Owner or similar role within an eCommerce or SaaS environment. Strong technical documentation writing skills, with experience creating clear, concise specifications and user stories. Deep understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including custom themes, apps, API integrations, and headless architecture. Experience in translating business requirements into actionable product features and deliverables. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, with experience managing product backlogs, sprints, and user stories. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex software projects and prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines and budget constraints. Up-to-date knowledge of Shopify updates, apps, and emerging technologies. Proven experience in analysing client data to inform product roadmaps.
- Desirable: Experience with other eCommerce platforms (e.g., Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud). Familiarity with data analytics tools and experience in driving decisions based on performance insights. Product Owner Certification (CSPO or equivalent).
