The Outpatients CSU at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) is actively seeking a dynamic and inspiring individual who will bring enthusiasm for change and a willingness to adopt new technologies and ways of working.
Main duties of the job:
The role is to actively lead and successfully deliver a range of projects and improvements across the Leeds Teaching Hospitals estate. This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified and motivated Project Manager, with previous experience of managing successful projects in a hospital setting, to join the Outpatients team. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to use your initiative. This post specializes in larger healthcare developments as well as minor projects, so you should have healthcare planning experience and be able to lead clinical colleagues through the project process. It is essential that the candidate has strong operational knowledge, in particular to digitalize Outpatient & Diagnostic services and transform delivery.

Job responsibilities:
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has embarked upon an ambitious Digital programme with a key objective to improve its Outpatient services to patients. This programme is underpinned by Information Technology and the delivery of a range of Digital solutions. The Trust’s commitment to this programme includes the implementation of a number of internally developed and externally procured solutions. It is necessary to introduce new or expand existing Digital solutions/systems into complex clinical environments which often span multiple departmental and organisational boundaries within the region. The purpose of this role is to project manage the development or procurement and oversee the implementation of Digital solutions. The post holder will use experience and judgement to evaluate complex requirements and recommend a solution, either long-term or tactical, that is consistent with the Digital strategy.
Responsibilities:
The post holder will manage a set of complex projects to professional standards, support, facilitate and monitor progress of projects, and support process and performance improvements. He/she will lead a small team of specialists while providing matrix-management of project staff. The post holder is responsible for developing Business Cases to secure project funding and subsequent management of these funds. The post holder will be required to manage and advise project staff that have day-to-day responsibility for overseeing the various elements of implementation, working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to introduce new ways of working that are consistent with new technology.
Principal Duties & Areas of Responsibility:
- To manage a wide range of Digital projects ensuring that the deliverables are produced to the required quality, within a specified time frame, and within budget.
- Use specialist knowledge, consultancy skills, and experience to advise on Digital solutions and guide Trust staff on a course of action.
- To diagnose complex Digital problems by analysing information and data in order to recommend a solution.
- To develop, maintain, and monitor plans for projects, tailoring the plans in accordance with the complexity of the project.
- To develop business cases for securing project funding using experience to ensure that costs for all impacted departments and/or services are identified.
- To follow Trust Standing Financial Instructions.
- To manage the budget during the course of the project/s.
- To use specialist knowledge for developing specifications where a need for a Digital solution is identified.
- To develop appropriate communication plans and communicate at all levels within the organisation.
- To facilitate or contribute to post implementation reviews.
- To document the lessons learned from the implementations and communicate these to a wide range of staff.
- To ensure any changes to working practice and/or job roles involve the necessary consultation with managers, staff, and their representatives.
- To manage the performance of the implementation team and ensure their personal & professional development needs are addressed.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Essential: PRINCE2 foundation qualification.
- Essential: Professional or degree level qualification.
- Desirable: PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification.
- Desirable: ITIL foundation qualification.
Additional Requirements:
- Essential: Must be available on site at least 2 days per week for implementation & operational engagement.
