Are you an organised and proactive HR professional looking to develop your career in a prestigious independent school setting? We are seeking an HR Assistant to join a well-established bursary team at an independent school in West London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in processing DBS checks, reference checks and safer recruitment to play a vital role in supporting the recruitment, appointment, and ongoing employment of school staff.

Key Responsibilities of the HR Assistant:

  • Provide general administrative support for the HR Office.
  • Assist with the recruitment process, including liaising with recruitment agencies, applicants, and interview scheduling.
  • Support the onboarding and induction process for new staff, including reference checks and ID verification.
  • Maintain accurate records for DBS checks and ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements.
  • Manage HR communications, including internal staff memos and reference requests.
  • Maintain the Recruitment inbox and HR calendar.
  • Deputise for the Cover and HR Assistant during their absence, ensuring attendance and absence records are up to date.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, both in person and over the phone.
  • Oversee HR administrative duties, including updating First Aid lists and processing insurance documentation.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous HR experience (experience within an education setting is an advantage).
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of IT proficiency and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A professional and discreet approach to handling confidential information.
  • GCSEs (A -C) in English and Maths and A-Level education as a minimum qualification.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (£30,000 - £33,500), reviewed annually.
  • Full-time, permanent contract, working Monday-Thursday (8:00 am-5:00 pm) and Friday (8:00 am-4:30 pm) during term time and school holidays.
  • 38 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, including a two-week closure over Christmas.
