THE ROLE

As a member of the Insights Analysis team, the Senior Analyst will work as part of the team that conducts research, develops MFS’ views, and delivers in-depth analysis, insight, and thought leadership related to economic factors affecting corporate earnings. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for sourcing data and assisting in the analysis across asset classes, investment styles, and approaches. They are expected to support other members across Insights Advisory (SAIG) teams as they develop MFS’s thoughts on equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and macro themes. The Senior Analyst will assist with client-ready presentations, white papers, webcasts, conference presentations, and responses to client inquiries, working under the direction of senior members of the Strategy and Insights Group (SAIG).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work with members of Insight Advisory on a research program related to all aspects and asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, and Multi-Asset), assisting with the development and maintenance of various capital markets dashboards, tracking economic, political, and market structures and forces, and providing ongoing commentary, views, and perspectives.
  • Support members of Insights Advisory and distribution colleagues on projects including retirement issues, asset allocation, risk analysis, long-term modeling, and stress testing of multi-asset portfolios.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data to support various technical projects, providing relevant data points to members of SAIG and producing client-ready materials to showcase the firm's investment insights.
  • Build analytical reports analyzing industry trends, investment themes, client preferences, and asset owner investment behaviour by segment, while understanding issues related to client investment decisions.
  • Assist other teams within SAIG and perform additional duties as required, acting as a supporting resource for macro, capital markets, fixed income, and equity data as well as client-specific requests.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree required; progress towards CFA or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred.
  • At least 2-5+ years of previous financial services or analytical experience, preferably with an asset manager, OCIO, plan sponsor, or investment consultant.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of quantitative tools and techniques, with the ability to perform quantitative analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to use macros and data analysis functions.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to distill topics into deliverables for a wide array of audiences.
  • Demonstrates interest in technical subject matter related to investments, asset classes, and global capital markets.
  • Aptitude to work collaboratively and efficiently as a member of a team of highly qualified investment experts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with tools such as FactSet, optimization software, Bloomberg, Morningstar, Haver is preferred.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to design and develop investment models.
