About Sous Chef
Sous Chef exists to make every day an adventure. Exceptional dishes start with extraordinary ingredients. And our small team has spent the last ten years travelling, tasting and testing to uncover the very best from the world’s kitchens. For every product that makes it to the website, nine don’t. Food-lovers find uncommonly good taste in all that Sous Chef brings, from ingredients and gifts, to tableware and cookware. We’re an independent family company and have inspired home cooks and professional chefs since 2012. Our targets are ambitious, and this is a very exciting time for the business. Our focus remains on delivering an outstanding customer experience while driving significant growth.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Ecommerce Trading Manager (and food nerd!), with a merchandising or data insight background, to lead the online channel – as we work to double the size of the business over the next three years. You will report directly to the founders. Your small team will include a marketing manager and ecommerce assistant, as well as paid marketing agencies and freelancers. This is a new role in the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Mission 1: Revenue Growth
- Implement strategies to grow LTV, together with the marketing manager
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, such as CRO, A/B testing, and on-site promos
- Monitor KPIs – such as ecommerce revenue mix by channel, AOV, conversion rates, exits, bounce, active customers, ROI – and use learnings to drive improvements
- Own online customer acquisition via SEO, PPC & Paid Social – supported by agencies and freelancers; as well as email flow lifecycle marketing
- Work with our development agency to maintain the website functionality and explore new technologies to enhance performance and user experience
- Keep up to date with latest ecom and marketing tech
- Own the ecommerce customer experience – from brand aesthetic, site navigation, through to oversight of new product listings (and delistings)
- Drive improvements in site navigation, imagery and information clarity to reduce exit and bounce, and introduce user-friendly features to ensure a great customer journey.
- Keep an eye on product merchandising trends and competitive landscape and ensure collection pages and PDPs are the best they can be.
- Merchandise the website, CRM, and other marketing channels with the right product at the right time – you’ll be the numbers-focussed eye on the content calendar
- Provide insight to the buying team on top and bottom performing products and collections, and give support to boost performance via pricing, photography, product titles, collection location and so on.
About you
You must have 4+ years of experience in a similar role in an ecommerce business, with revenue or GMV responsibility. The ideal candidate for this role will be a data driven food nerd, with exceptional analytical skills. You are likely to be working as an Ecommerce Trading Manager in a small to medium fast-growing direct-to-consumer (DTC) company with a large product catalogue (we have 6,500+ skus). You’ll have a commercial mindset with experience of retail trading. A strong track record of data analysis, optimizing ecommerce sites, trading, and managing different marketing channels is essential. You’ll have experience of using data and customer insight to optimize the ecommerce platform, support the buying teams, as well as overall business strategy. Experience of Shopify Plus and Klaviyo is a benefit.
Why Join Sous Chef?
