Are you a Qualified Solicitor looking to make an impact in the dynamic world of commodity trading? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments and want to collaborate with a team of experienced legal professionals? If so, this exciting opportunity is for you!

A leading global company based in London is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, immediately available, with a strong background in oil, gas, and biofuels to join the legal team on a Contractual basis of £800 per day.

Your expertise in these critical sectors will be invaluable as you navigate the complexities of the commodity trading lifecycle and make a significant impact on operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate various energy commodity trading agreements, including sale and purchase agreements and storage contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and support on recurrent trading issues and assist in resolving trading and non-trading disputes.
  • Collaborate with credit and KYC teams on parent company guarantees, NDAs, and letters of credit.
  • Assist origination teams with bespoke documentation and explore new business areas such as carbon trading.
  • Advise on sanctions and compliance clauses within agreements, demonstrating a solid understanding of international trade sanctions.
  • Offer general legal support in corporate governance, UK commercial regulation, and insurance matters.
  • Experience in shipping contracts and litigation is a plus, but not essential.

Ideal Profile:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house, focusing on trading and shipping.
  • Proven track record in the energy sector, particularly in oil, gas, and biofuels, showcasing your ability to effectively address commodity trading issues.
  • Shipping or transportation experience is advantageous but not required.
