The Role

As a Finance Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Supporting the Business Facing Finance Director and Business Facing team. This is a key role within the business with a focus on increased controls around budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Day-to-day, you'll be expected to liaise with the Land Sector Finance Business Service (FBS) team, SAP FBS, Operations and Senior Management teams; this role is the link between Finance and the contract. Cost drivers from the production operations need to be properly understood and communicated in the business: Reporting of the contract or site monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans. Key member of contract/site senior management team. Supporting identified continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Finance function. Identifying opportunities to improve the service. Business Partner with the operational teams holding them to account with their forecasts and budgets.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to Portsmouth or Lyneham or Bovington on a monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential Experience of the Finance Manager

  • Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
  • Experience with pricing.
  • Business partnering skills.
  • Ideally, you will have experience in the defence or similar sector but, this is not essential.
  • Experience with EACs and long term contract accounting.

Qualifications for the Finance Manager

You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent/similar.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
