An exciting opportunity for 2 part time Orthopaedic Consultant Secretaries to join the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD). Trauma and Orthopaedics is a large, well established service. Trauma and paediatric orthopaedic surgery is currently undertaken on the Poole Site, home to the largest fragility fracture centre in Europe with over 1200 patients attending per year requiring Neck of Femur surgery and a trauma bed base of over 100 beds. Elective orthopaedic surgery is undertaken on the Bournemouth site, home to the Derwent Orthopaedic Centre with a 28 bed inpatient ward and dedicated orthopaedic theatres. The elective orthopaedic service has recently received investment to support a new modular theatre, which will increase our planned orthopaedic surgery capacity by almost a third. Key to the success and future of trauma and orthopaedics at UHD are the close working relationships with Dorset ICS, the Strategy and Transformation Directorate and the Institute of Orthopaedic Research at Bournemouth University.

Expectations of the role: The successful candidate will join our well established team and it is hoped they will be able to start as soon as possible. 2 x part time consultant secretarial positions are available: 0.8 WTE (30 hours), 0.43 WTE (15 hours) or 2 positions each for 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours).

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital (Cross site working will be part of transformation of department).

Main duties of the job: Reporting to the Rota and Staffing Manager, the role comprises of providing a full and comprehensive secretarial service to the orthopaedic consultants and their medical teams. Two of these positions will have a shoulder specialty focus and one in hips.

Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
